Root Canal Treatment
Endodontics encompasses the health of the dental pulp, which is the innermost part of the tooth and contains nerves and blood vessels. When this area is exposed or harmed, the tooth may require endodontic treatment, also called a root canal. Common reasons for root canals include large decay and trauma. During root canal treatment, the pulp is cleaned out and a rubber type filling is placed. Root canal treated teeth usually then require a crown to prevent the tooth from fracturing.
