Post placement and osteointegration
When Dr. Hassan places your post, or posts, they typically require 3 to 6 months to fuse to your jawbone through the process of osteointegration.
Tooth loss can be the result of poor hygiene, trauma, decay, and disease. Whatever your reason, implants offer a permanent replacement for any number of missing teeth. They are comprised of three parts:
Replacing missing teeth is much more than just a cosmetic concern. There are long-term negative health concerns associated with missing teeth, including:
Restoring your smile really is about so much more than just your self-confidence. The long-term health impacts associated with missing teeth can lead to much more serious medical procedures and greater healthcare costs if left untreated. An investment in dental implants is an investment in your long-term health and quality of life.
Implants can be used to replace any number of missing teeth. At Colony dental, we use implants to replace a single missing tooth, an entire arch, or even an entire mouthful of teeth with all-on-4 implants. Our commitment to clinical skills and continuing education means that we’re sure to have the dental implant solution for your smile and your budget!
Dental implants are probably a great choice for you! They’re permanent, secure, and because of our experience and training, available to almost anyone. If you’ve been told that you are not a candidate for implants because you don’t have enough bone to support the post, Dr. Hassan may still be able to complete the implant process with bone grafting.
Dr. Hassan, in his effort to make exceptional dental health available to everyone, has completed training in bone grafting. This technique allows for new bone to be attached and grown at a site once considered too weak for implants. Although it is an extra step and requires additional healing time before a post can be set, bone grafting makes dental implants available to those who may not have previously been candidates for the procedure, which is a huge win for everyone. Nothing compares to the security and comfort of fixed, permanent tooth replacement.
Most people know that implants are a considerable investment, but they’re also a time investment. At Colony Dental, we work hard to minimize the overwhelm of your dental care. Typically, dental implants is a several months-long journey that can be broken down into three steps:
When Dr. Hassan places your post, or posts, they typically require 3 to 6 months to fuse to your jawbone through the process of osteointegration.
Once the post is fused to your jawbone, your Sugar Land dentist will place the abutment that serves as the attachment for your crown. There is typically 1-2 weeks of soft-tissue healing required after the placement of the abutment.
This is the final step. The crown or restoration is attached to the abutment(s), and you leave with a beautifully restored smile!
Every patient is different, meaning you will have your own unique timeframe. Your dentist at Colony Dental will work with you to set realistic expectations. Although the process may seem intimidating, most people think it’s well worth it. And, when you partner with Colony Dental, we become true partners and advocates for your health.
