It’s National Dental Hygiene Month

Aside from Halloween, October also brings us one of two other occasions to help raise awareness for good oral health. It’s National Dental Hygiene Month. This means we are bringing awareness to not only proper oral hygiene, but we also want to thank our wonderful hygienists as well. Dental hygienists are on the front lines of our battle with cavities and sometimes we forget how much they do to help educate our patients on the importance of regular dental visits and essential at-home oral health care. That is why we want to highlight our 2 amazing dental hygienists. Let’s meet them!

National Dental Hygiene MonthFirst, we have Cathy. In 2014, Cathy graduated with honors from the HCC-Coleman College for Health Sciences with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. Before that, she received her Bachelor of Science in Consumer Science & Merchandising from the University of Houston. Cathy prides herself on building trusting relationships with our patients. Cathy firmly believes that what we do for patients at the dental office cannot be substituted for what patients don’t do at home, so she considers it her first and foremost duty to educate her patients about how they can keep up with their oral hygiene when they’re not in her dental chair. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys traveling and cooking.

Last, we have Lida. Lida graduated from UTHealth School of Dentistry in Houston with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in the Dental Hygiene Program in 2016. She is bilingual, speaking both Farsi and English. You will find that she is very compassionate, able to put her patients at ease, and ensures a great dental experience. She loves educating her patients on their oral health and believes that creating a healthy oral environment leads to overall better health. Lida loves her career as a dental hygienist and considers all of her patients like family. In her spare time, she loves being with her family, going shopping, traveling, and dance events.

Remember, October is not only about dental hygiene, but also those who serve our patients with a dental cleaning. If it has been a while since your last cleaning, it is time to be seen. Schedule an appointment with us today!
